April R. Martindale

April R. Martindale is an intellectual property, entertainment, and business attorney with extensive experience advising entrepreneurs, business owners, creatives, entertainers, and nonprofit organizations. She focuses her practice on trademark and copyright protection, brand management, contract negotiation, business formation, licensing, corporate governance, and entertainment-related legal matters.

Prior to joining Cogent Law Group, Ms. Martindale founded and manages her own law firm, where she represents clients across a broad range of intellectual property, business, and entertainment law matters. Her unique combination of legal, business, and creative experience enables her to provide practical, strategic counsel that aligns legal protection with long-term business objectives.

Ms. Martindale earned her Bachelor's Degree in Paralegal Studies, graduating magna cum laude, and her MBA in Management, graduating summa cum laude. She received her Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, where she was selected as Valedictorian of the December 2015 graduating class.

A recognized leader within Florida's legal community, Ms. Martindale has served in numerous leadership positions with The Florida Bar and several other professional organizations. She is a Florida Bar Leadership Academy Fellow, a Florida Bar Business Law Section Fellow, and serves on various committees focused on professionalism, mentoring, business law, and intellectual property.

She previously served as Chair of the Florida Bar's Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee and has been actively involved in initiatives promoting diversity, leadership development, and professional excellence within the legal profession.

Ms. Martindale is a subject matter expert in Intellectual Property Law and Corporate Business Law, and a frequent lecturer and speaker on intellectual property, entrepreneurship, business development, leadership, and legal professionalism. She has presented for law schools, business organizations, government agencies, bar associations, and entrepreneurial development programs throughout Florida.

With a unique background as both an attorney and creative professional, Ms. Martindale brings firsthand insight to the protection and commercialization of intellectual property. A classically trained singer and songwriter who attended New York City's renowned Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, she understands the legal and business challenges faced by artists, content creators, and entertainment professionals.

She has secured multiple trademarks and owns more than fifty registered copyrights for original creative works. Ms. Martindale is admitted to practice in Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.
