Thomas Goldstein is the Founder and Managing Partner of Cogent Law. His legal career includes representing major clients at Skadden, Arps in Washington, DC, legislative work on Capitol Hill, and serving as Managing Partner of the Washington, DC office of Perry, Krumsiek & Jack LLP.

Tom is also an experienced start-up executive and angel investor, and was the founder and president of GroupMagellan Legal Search. Across his varied roles as an attorney, law firm manager, and independent recruiter, he had thousands of candid, confidential conversations with clients and legal professionals, giving him a rare understanding of the limitations of traditional legal business models.

That experience shaped his vision for a better way of delivering legal services. Cogent Law is the realization of that vision, bringing together entrepreneurial lawyers with broad experience and practical capabilities under a lean-overhead model designed to deliver high-level legal advice efficiently and without unnecessary cost.

Under Tom’s leadership, Cogent has built a world-class team focused on producing business-minded, fast, and commercially valuable legal guidance. Tom is not a practicing attorney. His focus is on firm management, strategic growth, and continuing to expand Cogent’s ability to serve sophisticated clients with a modern, results-driven approach.
